BANKS COUNTY LADY LEOPARDS

Head Coach: Josh Lord

Assistant Coach (s): Joe Lord, Tammy Kennedy

2006 record: 14-8

College Prospects: 2B/3B Brittany Gable (Sr.); RHP/1B Andrea Hunter (Sr.)

Returning starters: RHP/1B Andrea Hunter (Sr.); INF Brittany Gable (Sr.); OF Allison White (Sr.); OF Randi Seabolt (Sr.); OF Elizabeth Krippner (Sr.); C Hayley Baird (So.); RHP/1B Kim Thomas (So.); INF Ashley Denton (So.)

Other returning players: OF Brook Dodd (Sr.); INF Rachel Anderson (Sr.); OF Lauran Taylor (So.); OF Samm Kennedy (Jr.)

Season outlook: In five years of playing fast-pitch softball, Banks County notched its most wins in school history and just missed making the postseason last year. The Lady Leopards hope to continue that momentum. Eight starters return, including talented pitcher Andrea Hunter (8-4, 2.53 ERA) and leading hitter Brittany Gable (.348 avg., 8 SB).

DAWSON COUNTY LADY TIGERS

Head Coach: Jimmy Pruett

Assistant Coach (s): Nickie Rogers, Mark Ragsdale, Brandy Branson

2006 record: 13-13

College Prospects: LF Megan Sanders (Sr., 6-0); 1B Katelyn Westbrook (Sr., 5-9); C/DH Taylor Pruitt (Sr., 5-6)

Returning starters: LF Megan Sanders (Sr., 6-0); 1B Katelyn Westbrook (Sr., 5-9); C/DH Taylor Pruitt (Sr., 5-6)

Other returning players: None supplied

Top newcomers: None supplied

Season outlook: Graduation hit the Lady Tigers hard as seven seniors from last years team graduated. The good news is that the three returning starters are seniors and should help carry a young but talented team. Megan Sanders (.310 avg.) and Katelyn Westbrook (.321 avg.) both batted better than .300 last season.

NORTH OCONEE LADY TITANS

Head Coach: Bryan Eades

Assistant Coach (s): Ted Watson, Tim Armstrong

2006 record: 34-8

College Prospects: SS/1B Linsey Dallas (Sr., 5-7); OF/RHP Pilar Harden (Sr., 5-9); 2B Ansley Highfill (Sr., 5-8)

Returning starters: C Jessica Adams (Jr., 5-3); OF Shea Wages (Jr., 5-7); RHP Ali Watson (Jr., 5-8); 1B/OF Amy Thompson (Jr., 5-8); SS/1B Linsey Dallas (Sr., 5-7); OF/RHP Pilar Harden (Sr., 5-9); 2B Ansley Highfill (Sr., 5-8)

Other returning players: 3B/OF Rachel Mobley (Jr., 5-3); OF/2B Katie Garrett (So., 5-1); OF Ashley Johns (So., 5-7); C/1B/3B Kristen Satcher (So., 5-3)

Top newcomers: SS/OF Lauren Bailey (Fr., 5-4); RHP/INF/OF Danielle Smith (Fr., 5-5); RHP/1B Jessica Watson (Fr., 5-8); OF/SS Lauren Peavey (Fr., 5-3); 1B Brooke Satterfield (Fr., 5-8)

Season outlook: The defending Class AA state champs are expected to challenge for a deep postseason run again. One of the biggest reasons is because North Oconees top two pitchers in Pilar Harden (14-3, 0.67 ERA) and Ali Watson (20-5, 0.42 ERA) return. Senior offensive standouts Linsey Dallas (.344 avg., 39 RBIs) and Ansley Highfill (.333 avg., 25 RBIs) also return.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY LADY PATRIOTS

Head Coach: Taylor Brooks

Assistant Coach (s): Dustin Cordell

2006 record: 16-17

College Prospects: SS/OF Andrea Skellie (Sr., 5-7)

Returning starters: 2B/SS Carrie Grimes (Jr., 5-5); 3B Jenna Grizzell (So., 5-7); SS/OF Andrea Skellie (Sr., 5-7); LF Caitlyn Todd (So., 5-7); DH/2B Marisa Coulter (Jr., 5-4)

Other returning players: None supplied

Top newcomers: CF Kim Baird (So., 5-5); RHP Karley Phillips (Fr., 5-8); C Courtney Kitchens (Jr., 5-7); 1B Erica Saxon (Jr., 5-6)

Season outlook: If the Lady Patriots can replace six seniors and develop some consistency, they could be in the postseason chase. Five returning starters are back but none of those are pitchers. Senior Andrea Skellie (.312 avg., 3 2B) highlights the offense. If some underclassmen pitchers can step up, Oglethorpe could be in the thick of things.

UNION COUNTY LADY PANTHERS

Head Coach: Jessica Stewart

Assistant Coach (s): unavailable at press time

2006 record: 25-16

College Prospects: RHP April Harper (Sr.); SS Kaley Sullivan (Sr.); 3B Amanda Mason (Sr.); CF Brittany Massey Lentz (Sr.); OF Courtney Watts (Sr.)

Returning starters: 1B/LHP Brooklyn Swartz (Jr.); RHP April Harper (Sr.); SS Kaley Sullivan (Sr.); 3B Amanda Mason (Sr.); CF Brittany Massey Lentz (Sr.);

Top newcomers: C Whitney Kelley (Fr.); INF Tori Dyer (Fr.); INF Caitlin Seabolt (Fr.); OF Kristin Hamby (Fr.)

Season outlook: Union County finished fifth in the state tournament last season. While three strong seniors graduated off that team, there is enough talent for the Lady Panthers to make another run at the postseason. Five starters return. One of those is senior pitcher April Harper, who boasted a 0.78 earned run average last year and gives Union a chance to win each time she takes the mound.
