Season outlook: The Lady Cougars made the state playoffs last season for the first time in school history and are looking to take things a step father this fall. Ace pitcher Daisy Millsap (12-3, 1.16 ERA) returns, while power-hitters Lauren Odom (.500 avg., 8 HR, 38 RBIs), Kari Barnes (.421 avg., 4 HR, 27 RBIs) and Hillary Cox (.411 avg., 5 HR, 29 RBIs) return to lead the offense.

Season outlook: The Lady Cougars made the state finals for the first time in school history last year. Cherokee should make a run at the postseason again this season as nine starters are back, including offensive catalyst Sharon Swanson (.350 avg., 7 HR, 23 RBIs). The team�s top pitcher � Abbey Meixel (11-3, 0.82 ERA) � also returns.

Season outlook: Lithia Springs should continue improving this fall as seven starters return. Offense shouldn�t be a major concern as a pair of .300-plus hitters return in senior Chenise Clayborne (.348 avg.) and sophomore Taylor Tabor (.329 avg.). The lack of experienced pitchers is a concern. Sophomore Hillary Lewis (two wins) is the most-experienced pitcher.

Season outlook: The Lady Chiefs won their first state title in school history last year. With nine returners back from last season, Sequoyah could be looking at making another deep postseason run. A strong senior class returns. Keep an eye on a pair of underclassmen. Sophomore infielder Jackie Miller returns after batting .388 last year, while junior infielder Megan Garcia batted .310 last season.

Season outlook: The Lady Spartans� inaugural season was successful. South Paulding, a team with mainly freshmen and sophomores, won two region games and was competitive in most others. All the team�s starters are back, including seniors Kirsten Duncan and Chelsea Lance. Expect South Paulding to continue improving.

Season outlook: It will be tough to replace the versatile catcher/pitcher Jessie Weaver, who signed with Georgia Tech, but there is a talented group of returners who should help Woodland compete in Region 5-AAAA. The talent, however, is very young. The only returning senior is pitcher Hannah Bates. A talented group of sophomores are expected to contribute.
