2006 record: 22-7-1

College Prospects: None supplied

Returning starters: 1B/C Kelsea Martin (Jr., 5-5); RHP Sarah Bentley (Jr., 5-4); C Megan Little (Sr., 5-5)

Top newcomers: 2B Samantha Ramey (So., 5-4); SS Charlotte Sieber (So., 5-4)

Season outlook: The Lady Falcons have some positions to fill if they plan on duplicating last years success. Dacula has just three returning starters back. The good news is that one of the teams top returning pitchers in junior Sarah Bentley (0.41 ERA) returns. Second-baseman Samantha Ramey (.386 avg.) returns after a solid freshman campaign.

Top newcomers: None supplied

Season outlook: Eastside should be back in postseason contention with five returning starters, including standout pitcher Brandi Richards (13-5, 0.64 ERA). Versatile infielder Brittany Harper (.302 avg.) and junior second-baseman Sierra Petree (.318 avg.) highlight a solid offensive attack. The Lady Eagles will be seeking to win the region championship for the fourth straight season.

2006 record: 17-13

Season outlook: The Lady Raiders just missed making the state sectionals last year. They should challenge for a postseason berth this fall. Five starters return, four of them seniors, including offensive standouts Taylor Spearman (.357 avg.) and Jamie Addis (.300 avg.). Habersham will be looking for a strong group of sophomores to step up and contribute this season.

HERITAGE LADY PATRIOTS

Head Coach: Dickey Hightower

Assistant Coach (s): Betsy Broach

2006 record: 13-11

College Prospects: None supplied

Returning starters: LHP Jamie Melson (Jr.); 1B Kat Baize (Jr.); 2B Jaclyn Queen (Jr.); SS Whitney Phillips (Jr.); 3B Katie Cuson (Jr.); CF Kristen Gordy (Sr.); C Jessica Hornsby (Jr.)

Other returning players: C/OF McKenzie Scheidecker (Jr.); INF/OF Ashley Ward (Jr.); RHP/OF Phailow Murphy (Jr.); INF/OF Chandler Shepherd (So.); INF/OF Rachelle Stover (So.)

Top newcomers: None supplied

Season outlook: Heritage missed out on the region tournament last year, however, the Lady Patriots hope seven returning starters will make them a postseason contender this fall. If Heritage can develop consistency, they could be in the playoff chase. The team is still relatively young, returning just one senior in centerfielder Kristen Gordy. Top pitcher Jamie Melson (13-10, 1.30 ERA) and offensive standouts Whitney Phillips (.435 avg.) and Jessica Hornsby (.330 avg.) all return.

Top newcomers: RHP Kasie Wisdom (Jr., 5-9); CF Brittany McSwain (Jr., 5-0); OF Courtney Beshel (So., 5-7); 1B Jerica Cook (Jr., 5-6)

Season outlook: Loganville made a strong showing in the postseason last year before getting swept in the state tournament in Columbus. The Lady Red Devils hope to build off last years momentum. Six starters are back, including offensive sparkplugs Samantha Cagle (.312 avg., 5 2B, 17 RBIs) and Jessica Womble (.309 avg., 2 3B, 17 RBIs). The lack of experienced pitching is a concern.

MADISON COUNTY LADY RED RAIDERS

Pitcher Megan Kesler returns after winning 13 of the teams 16 games last year.

Other returning players: OF Lisa Thomas (Sr., 5-8); OF Stephanie Scaffe (Jr., 5-8); OF Sammy Girardot (Jr., 5-8); 2B Jordan Leftwich (Jr., 5-8)

Season outlook: Depending on how quickly the Lady Bulldogs adjust to their new coach, Rockdale could make some noise in Region 8-AAAA and challenge for a postseason berth. Eight returning starters are back, including pitcher Jessie Holmes (11-13) and offensive standouts Ashleigh George (.329 avg., 18 RBIs) and Kayla Kelly (.333 avg., 26 RBIs).

Top newcomers: SS Lauren Hamel (So., 5-7)

Season outlook: Some younger players will have to step forward if Winder-Barrow is to approach last years success. The Lady Bulldogs lost eight seniors to graduation and only two starters return. The good news is that senior infielder Jessica Montague (.275 avg., 5 SB) returns as well as sophomore catcher Shelby Reed (.333 avg.)
