Season outlook: The defending state runner-ups have plenty of firepower to make a run at a postseason berth again this season. Seven starters are back, including ace pitcher Erin Collins and her favorite target, catcher Caroline Cooper. Six of the seven returners are seniors, giving coach Billy Dooley a solid nucleus to build around.

Season outlook: The Lady Bulldogs expect to be much better this fall as seven starters are back, five of them who hit .300 or better last year. Forsyth Central will be led offensively by senior Austin Smith (.408 avg.). The bad news is the Lady Bulldogs have very little experienced pitching. Senior Lauren Avery (6-12, 2.05 ERA) has the most experience.

MILL CREEK LADY HAWKS

Head Coach: Kelly Murdock

Assistant Coach (s): Sarah Daws, Courtney Cooper

2006 record: 31-9

College Prospects: OF/2B Brittany Singer (Sr., 5-5); RHP Megan Lock (Sr., 5-9); C Stephanie Konkle (Sr., 5-6); C Brittany McDade (Sr., 5-6)

Other returning players: RHP Megan Lock (Sr.); C Brittany McDade (Sr.)

Top newcomers: SS/OF Alex Rogers (Jr.); 3B Allie Millonig (Jr.); RHP Morgan Dickhute (Jr.)

Season outlook: Mill Creek, which enters its fourth season of existence, had its best season last fall when the Lady Hawks finished third at state. The team aims to take things farther this fall. Seven starters are back, including a good mixture of juniors and seniors. Junior infielders Amberlie Saxton and Hannah Graham might be the best middle infield duo in the state.

NORTH FORSYTH LADY RAIDERS

Head Coach: Jim Cahill

Assistant Coach (s): Becky Cahill, Travis Jarrard, Bud Henderson

2006 record: 22-12

College Prospects: RHP/1B Hillary Martin (Sr., 5-10)

Returning starters: INF Erika Velez (Sr., 5-6); C/OF Anna Dankewich (Sr., 5-5); RHP/1B Hillary Martin (Sr., 5-10)

Other returning players: OF/C Heather Denny (Sr., 5-7); 1B Courtney Wagoner (Jr., 5-6); OF Felica Velez (Jr., 5-7); INF Chelsea Fernandez (Jr., 5-4); LHP Mallory Swanson (So., 5-6)

Top newcomers: INF Lauren Velez (So., 5-4)

Season outlook: After just missing the postseason last year, North Forsyth should be a contender this fall. Senior pitcher Hillary Martin (6-5, 1.02 ERA) is one of the regions best. If she can get some offensive support, North Forsyth could contend for the region crown. A pair of returning seniors in Erika Velez and Anna Dankewich should provide strong leadership to a young but talented team.

Seven starters return, including senior Alicia Smith. A strong group of sophomores and juniors are expected to help carry some of the load.
